JEWELLERY CARE
Pascale Stanley Jewellery Design pieces are handcrafted using recycled sterling silver, fine silver, brass and gold fill. Wire Jewellery can be more delicate than solid silver jewellery so it is important to take care of your pieces as we want them to last! We recommend that you do not shower, swim, bathe, sleep or exercise when wearing your jewellery. Avoid scenarios that can crush or catch delicate or filigreed wire wrapped jewellery (beware of open weave knitwear and scarves that could catch on the wire). Please be aware that gemstones used in pieces are natural and can be damaged by chemical reactions so we advise that you apply perfume, hairspray or skin care products before putting on your jewellery.
BRASS AND SILVER
Over time brass and silver jewellery does tarnish, as oils from your skin cause a slow oxidation process. Whilst some people like this effect, if you prefer to keep the metal shine, buff your jewellery with the pro-polish pad provided until the shine returns.
I suggest using a soft cloth with some brasso or silvo to get a more thorough polish of a piece. For wire woven pieces you could also use a soft toothbrush or soft artist's brush with a little soap and luke warm water to access any delicate woven details.
Store your jewellery in a cool dry place such as the box provided, avoiding direct sunlight, to prevent discolouration or damage to metal and stones. Storing it in an air tight container or plastic bag will also reduce some of the tarnishing.
OXIDISED JEWELLERY
If your jewellery has an oxidised look - either dark black or grey, do not polish your piece with a cloth or the dark colour will turn into shiny silver. Over time your piece of jewellery will evolve as the patina naturally rubs off when worn. I offer a free of charge “re-oxidisation” service if you find that you would like the piece blackened again.
A NOTE ABOUT GOLD FILLED METAL
One of the benefits of the14k gold filled metal that I use is that it very rarely tarnishes. If needed, lightly clean with an untreated cloth and mild soapy water.
Gold filled jewellery is long lasting and an affordable alternative to pure gold jewellery. Superior to gold plated metal, gold filled wire contains 100% more gold. Generally gold filled jewellery is suitable for sensitive skin. Unlike it’s name suggests, gold filled is not actually filled with gold but consists of a base metal brass with a layer of gold pressure bonded to the base metal.
